Welcome to The Unusual Times, a distinctive culinary experience nestled in the heart of Newark Airport's Terminal B. As you navigate through the hustle and bustle of travel, this eatery invites you to indulge in an array of hearty bites and refreshing drinks, crafted to satisfy your palate before your next journey.
While some patrons have raised eyebrows, often commenting on its "airport prices," many others sing the praises of the dedicated staff and the flavorsome selections available. Travelers like DC Mason appreciate the friendly service, suggesting it's "not as bad as everyone makes out." The atmosphere may be relaxed, but the top-notch service from team members like John, Nassir, and Tomil has frequently been highlighted, transforming fleeting airport moments into memorable dining experiences.
For those early risers or layover warriors, The Unusual Times is a haven. Customers have enjoyed classic breakfast items—the Bacon Egg and Cheese standing out as a surprisingly delightful value amidst the continental options. Even coffee, with its burnt aroma, surprisingly hits the spot, acting as a much-needed pick-me-up before a long flight. Sterling Armentrout's mention of the "top-tier Bloody Mary" illustrates that the drink menu offers well-deserved essentials for travelers looking to unwind.
However, prepare to embrace the quirks: the lack of metal silverware and certain breakfast items encourages adaptability—an echo of the reality we face today. Yet, as traveler Eli Root noted, once you set your expectations, the experience at The Unusual Times may just surprise you. It’s a reminder that in our often chaotic world, there’s comfort in the unconventional. Every dish is served with the heart of hospitality, making each visit to The Unusual Times not just a meal, but a necessary pause in your voyages.
Whether you're sipping a stiff drink, munching on a bite, or simply soaking in the bustling airport vibe, The Unusual Times is your dependable pit stop, radiating a charm that’s oddly comforting yet undeniably unique.

Not as bad as everyone makes out and the staff were friendly. Airport prices, sure, but not a bad place for a bite and a brew.

The staff is very helpful and nice. Food was very good. Bloody Mary was top-tier.

John and Nassir treated us like royalty. They went way beyond our expectations to accommodate us and get us seated and served quickly. Top notch customer service. They made the beginning of our trip a pleasant one.

Tomil was my server! The most over worked server. He was great ! Hussling getting it done. Thank you for being part of our wonderful trip. Give the guy some help or a raise.

Great service for Easter Sunday 2024!

If you happen to arrive at EWR for a 7:55am flight, it’s worth noting that Priority Pass lounge access starts at 8am sharp. So, if you want to sit down and eat food off a table, that leaves you with one option: the Unusual Times. My advice? Read the reviews first. That will help you establish the right mindset heading in. (One reviewer, named Juan Felipe Rincon, described the Times simply as “a nightmare”.) Once your expectations have been sufficiently lowered, you’re ready to dive in. There are no frills at the Times. No omelette station (also no omelettes). No lunch before 11am. No metal silverware. No knives at all (metal, plastic or otherwise). The continental breakfast costs 18 for low fat yogurt and a muffin. But, especially when compared to the continental breakfast, the 15.50 bacon egg and cheese is a relatively good value. And the coffee - despite it’s burnt aroma - really hit the spot. So, when deciding between going hungry before a 7 hour international flight or braving the (unusual) Times, you can be reasonably confident you’re making the right choice. There are no certainties in this life. But, in these strange times, at least there’s one restaurant at Newark Airport Terminal B you can count on. Even if it is a little bit... unusual. And... if we’re really being honest with ourselves... who isn’t a little bit unusual? Respectfully submitted, EBR from EWR

Great drinks before our flight. Hubert was a great server. Kind 5 stars!

I did not order food here, only a beer seating at the bar and the service was nice.
